We're thrilled to announce the launch of our latest creation, a Traditional Mead brewed on 100% Organic Zambian Forest Honey, made in collaboration with Bees for Development charity in Monmouth!
Brewed to the same recipe as our award-winning Traditional Mead, but made with 100% Organic Zambian Honey rather than honey from the Wye Valley.
We launched this mead at an event last week in Monmouth alongside Bees For Development who were also celebrating their 30th anniversary (hosted by artisan bakery Alex Gooch). The event was attended by local press and the wonderful Kate Humble (Patron of Bees For Development).
The honey for this mead comes from forests in North Western Zambia, it is unlike anything you'd find in the UK, almost black and has a distinct earthy herbal taste. This has resulted in a unique tasting mead which carries these flavours really well.

Sip for a Cause

But here's the really sweet part – by enjoying our Zambian Honey Traditional Mead, not only are you treating your taste buds, but you're also supporting beekeepers in Zambia. We're proud to say that ten percent of the profits from each bottle sold will be donated to Bees for Development by Hive Mind.

Bees for Development is an incredible charity on a mission to promote sustainable beekeeping globally. They're fighting poverty, building resilient livelihoods, and championing biodiversity – all through the power of honey bees.

Dr. Nicola Bradbear MBE, the founder of Bees for Development, shared her excitement: "Beekeeping is low cost, sustainable, and has the greatest effect on those who have the very least. Our charity shares beekeeping skills with people in the poorest communities of the world, giving a reliable income for life."

Kit, our co-founder, is buzzing with excitement about this collaboration: "We are pleased to be supporting Bees for Development in this very practical way, demonstrating the success of their model of creating viable small businesses and new access to markets through beekeeping and honey production."

How to enjoy it

With its darker colour and robust flavour, it's a fantastic alternative to port, making it a perfect sweet and smoky companion for desserts or cheese. This mead brings a complex, spicy flavour profile, offering a unique twist to your favourite cocktails.

Where to buy Zambian Honey Traditional Mead

You can grab your bottle, a 70cl delight with 14.5% ABV, for £30.00 RRP. It's available to buy on our website, in-store at the Bees For Development store in Monmouth and through and through select independent retailers.

So, sip on something extraordinary while making a positive impact on beekeepers and biodiversity worldwide. Cheers to great mead and even greater causes!
