A rich, fruity twist on traditional mead, made with 100% real honey and dark cherry juice. This traditional-style melomel combines the natural sweetness and richness of honey with the deep, tart character of ripe dark cherries.

Our Dark Cherry Mead is slowly fermented to retain the character of both the honey and fruit, creating a smooth, rounded drink with plenty of depth. The result sits somewhere between a rich cherry wine, a traditional mead and a light fortified wine – but with the unmistakable character of real honey running through it.

What is a melomel?

Melomel is the name given to mead made with fruit. Fruit and honey have been paired in mead for thousands of years, with traditional examples appearing throughout European history.

Our Dark Cherry Mead brings that old combination up to date, using real honey and dark cherry juice to create something rich, fruity and very drinkable.

Tasting Notes

Deep, rich cherry fruit with gentle floral honey notes. Sweet and juicy on the palate, balanced by the natural acidity and subtle tannin of the cherries. Smooth and rounded, with a lingering cherry and honey finish.

There’s plenty of fruit here, but it isn’t simply sweet, the tartness of the cherries gives the mead freshness and balance, while the honey rounds everything out.

Dark Cherry Mead works particularly well with rich and savoury foods, as well as desserts.
