This mead prosecco spritz is a refreshing, bubbly drink that’s perfect for brunches, outdoor gatherings, or as an aperitif. The combination of mead and Prosecco provides a unique balance of sweetness and effervescence, with the option to add a bitter citrus note from Aperol or orange liqueur.

Ingredients:
  • 3 oz mead (preferably a semi-sweet or floral variety)
  • 3 oz Prosecco
  • 1 oz Aperol or orange liqueur (optional, for a bitter citrus twist)
  • Ice cubes
  • Splash of sparkling water
  • Orange slice or lemon twist for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the glass: Fill a large wine glass or spritz glass with ice cubes.

  2. Pour the mead: Add the mead to the glass.

  3. Add Aperol or orange liqueur (optional): If using, pour in the Aperol or orange liqueur for a slightly bitter, citrusy flavour.

  4. Top with prosecco: Slowly pour in the Prosecco to avoid losing too much fizz.

  5. Finish with sparkling water: Add a splash of sparkling water to enhance the spritz.

  6. Garnish: Garnish with an orange slice or a lemon twist. You can also add a sprig of fresh mint for an extra layer of aroma.

  7. Serve: Stir gently and enjoy!

Pairing Suggestions:

  • Light appetisers: This spritz pairs well with light appetisers like bruschetta, marinated olives, or a fresh Caprese salad.
  • Seafood: Serve it alongside seafood dishes such as smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, or oysters.
  • Fresh fruits: Complement the drink with a platter of fresh fruits like strawberries, peaches, or citrus slices.
